Mendota Museum & Historical Society Bird House Building Contest
Wood, basic patterns with building tips and examples will be handed out at the Hume-Carnegie Museum north door (901 Washington Street) on Saturday, March and Sunday, March 19 from 1-3 pm. Arrangement s for other times can be made by calling the museum at (815) 539-3373.
Adults are allowed to help young builders. Two categories and age groups will be awarded prizes. Age groups are 6-8 and 9-12. Categories are:
1 quality of construction
2 creativity/artistic merit
-Wood must be the main material used but additional materials may be added for details and embellishments..
-NO part of the bird house will exceed 12 inches in any direction (height, depth, length width)
-Wood may be finished, painted or left unfinished. Materials should be safe for birds.
-Entries must be brought for judging and display on April 15 or 16 from 1-3 pm at the Hume-Carnegie Museum. Pick up date May 6 & 7.
